Revolutionizing Corporate Communication: The EA Activity Report

Ragù Communication's Award-Winning Design Transforms the Mundane into the Extraordinary

In a world where corporate communication often falls into the trap of monotony, Ragù Communication's design for the EA Activity Report stands out. The design, which won the Silver A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2019, is a testament to the transformative power of design and its ability to engage audiences in unexpected ways.

The EA Activity Report is not your typical corporate brochure. Inspired by the idea of dialogue and the relational capacity that Europ Assistance develops with its customers, Ragù Communication sought to create a design that would blend the institutional world of a large multinational company with the elegance of editorial products. The result is a design that speaks to a diverse international audience and breaks away from the traditional confines of corporate communication.

What sets the EA Activity Report apart is the theme of dialogue that runs transversally throughout the brochure. To give life to this theme, Ragù Communication collaborated with an illustrator who freely interpreted the theme and the content of the articles. The 48-page brochure is printed on Fedrigoni X Per paper, with a cover weight of 320 g/m2 and internal page weight of 120 g/m2. The cover plate features a die cut in the shape of the Europ Assistance logo, adding a unique touch to the design.

The design process began in Rome in January 2018 and was delivered to the client in April 2018. Prior to the project's launch, the design team held a workshop to discuss the concept of an activity report in today's world. The consensus was that readers wanted to understand the company through a product that was not only informative but also aesthetically pleasing. This insight guided the design process and resulted in a product that surprises and engages the reader on every page.

One of the main challenges faced by the design team was to renew the concept of the activity report, making it less rigid and more open to reading and public use. The large die cut on the cover serves as a call to action, inviting the reader to enter the magazine and discover every page and every story. The design was conceived for digital publication but also exists as a 48-page booklet that measures 175x250 mm. The hardcopy version uses only natural paper on the inside and features a series of original illustrations that suggest a dual metaphorical interpretation.

With the EA Activity Report, Ragù Communication has demonstrated the potential of design to transform corporate communication. The design is a testament to the power of creativity and innovation, and serves as a reminder that even the most mundane of documents can be turned into a work of art. The EA Activity Report is not just a corporate brochure; it is a dialogue between Europ Assistance and its customers, a dialogue that is engaging, informative, and beautifully designed.
